AST and Vodafone begin live testing across eight EU countries

What happened

AST SpaceMobile announced that "Network Integration testing activities, subject to regulatory approvals, are underway" across eight European countries — the UK, Ireland, Romania, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain and Ukraine — with five mobile network operators: Vodafone, Orange, Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone Ukraine. The work is run through Satellite Connect Europe, the Luxembourg-headquartered AST/Vodafone direct-to-device joint venture. AST's press release describes these as "bespoke programs designed to accelerate the seamless integration of AST SpaceMobile's space-based cellular broadband service with existing terrestrial mobile networks." CCO Chris Ivory: "Working alongside many of the world's leading mobile network operators, we are advancing activities across multiple countries to become a seamless complementary layer." No completed-call, data-session or performance figures are disclosed yet — this is a testing-underway announcement, not a service-launch one.

Satellite Connect Europe had previously only been tracked as "21/27-state MOU interest" — a political/interest-stage signal.
